New book on Castlehyde graves launched

A book documenting the names the inscriptions on headstones in Castlehyde cemetery, was launched in Adair Hall, Fermoy last Friday evening. 

The work of the Castlehyde Graveyard Restoration Group, ‘The Church & Graveyard At Castlehyde’ is edited by Kieran Jordan. Speakers last Friday night included Fermoy Church of Ireland rector, Clodagh Yambasu, Sandy Blackley, John Arnold and Kieran Jordan. MC for the occasion was Fermoy man, Danny Higgins. 

The Castlehyde Restoration Group was established in 2021 by individuals who were concerned about the state of the cemetery and its environs. Since then, a great deal of work has been carried out, with a view to maintaining the cemetery, most notably, cutting grass, strimming, clearing ivy, repairs to walls and general maintenance.
