On Sunday evening last, Castlelyons Community Centre hosted a race night with a view to generating much needed finance. While fundraising models come and go, the race night formula is very reliable and once the necessary work is done in advance, a healthy profit can be realised.

Having a good crowd on the night is a bonus and fortunately for organisers, the public turned out in force last Sunday. Securing a main sponsor is another important element of proceedings and the Cashman family, who own both Rathbarry and Glenview Studs, were more than happy to oblige.

Indeed, organisers are grateful to all the individuals and businesses who provided sponsorship. Local sports clubs also gave generously, as did a number of local politicians.
