A series of public consultation workshops across Limerick has been announced as the next stage in the development of Limerick’s first Local Sports Plan.
Members of the public are invited to attend one of these upcoming facilitated public consultation workshops, which will present the consultation findings and provide an opportunity to discuss the emerging themes, share your views, and help shape the future of sport in Limerick. Designated workshops will start at 6.30pm – one such workshop will take place at Kilmallock Library (V35 HC98) on Thursday, September 11th and will run until 8pm.
Announced by Limerick City and County Council, in partnership with Limerick Sports Partnership, it follows on from a strong response to the recent surveys and stakeholder engagement.
“We are now sharing the findings from our consultations with residents and stakeholders about sport and physical activity in Limerick. We want your help to shape the vision of increasing participation in sport and physical activity across the city and county by getting your input on the emerging themes from these findings,” spokesperson stated.
Other workshops take place in Newcastle West (V42 WT20) on Wednesday, 3rd September; at the Citizen Innovation Hub, Sarsfield Street, Limerick City (V94 DW2) on Thursday, 4th September, as well as at Adare Community Hall (V94 V0Y0) on Wednesday, 10th September.
A SHARED VISION
The Local Sports Plan is being developed by Limerick City and County Council in partnership with Limerick Sports Partnership, with the aim of creating a shared vision for sport and physical activity across Limerick.
Under the Government’s National Sports Policy 2018–2027, Local Authorities are recognised as key stakeholders in promoting participation and providing public spaces and opportunities for sport and physical activity. In line with Action 8 of the policy, Sport Ireland has been tasked with supporting Local Authorities in the development of Local Sports Plans.
Limerick’s Local Sports Plan will reflect this national direction while addressing local needs.
“We would like to sincerely thank everyone who participated in the surveys and shared their insights. Your contributions are helping to shape a more inclusive, active, and healthier Limerick,” the spokesperson concluded.
