The annual open night at Presentation Secondary School, Mitchelstown took place last Thursday. There was considerable interest in the event, with people travelling long distances to meet staff, interact with students and get a feel for what this progressive school has to offer.
Regarding existing students, they were to the fore in making visitors feel welcome and giving them detailed insights into what daily life in the school is like. Students, all of whom volunteer for these roles, were polite, enthusiastic and informative.
On the night, parents commented on how impressed they were listening to the happy and confident first year students during the opening speeches – hard to believe they are only seven weeks with the school as they already displayed how settled and confident they are in the school. Head girl Ali O’Donnell and deputy head girl, Emily Darrer Dalton, spoke clearly and eloquently about their experiences in Presentation over the past six years.
