Welcome news came in from the Lee family on Monday, as it was announced that Mitchelstown native, Philip Lee, was on his way home having sustained serious injuries following a hit-and-run incident in Spain.
A GoFundMe fundraiser set up by the Lee family in a bid to get Philip home to Sligo, where he now lives, quickly garnered support and by this Wednesday (21st), had raised over €34,000 for the cause.
This week, Emma Lee, Philip’s wife, issued an update thanking the public for their generosity and confirming that Philip was on his way home from Spain by ambulance.
Setting out on the journey on Monday, Emma said that it would be a ‘long and demanding trip’ taking around 35 hours in total.
