Fr. Michael Hanley, parish priest of Kilfinane is on the move. Having spent 10 years ministering, Fr. Hanley will soon depart for St. Mary’s parish in Limerick city.
The popular cleric said his farewell Mass in St. Andrew’s Church, Kilfinane last Saturday evening. It was a case of standing room only as Fr. Hanley thanked worshippers for their unstinting support over the last decade.
A man who keeps meticulous records, Fr. Hanley was able to tell his congregation that last Saturday marked his 4,500th Mass during a 10 year tenure. He identified the Mass in advance of Blackrock GAA’s All-Ireland triumph in 2010 as extra special – Christmas Eve Masses also fell into this category he told his capacity audience.
