Gardai in Bruff are searching for a gang of three men after a burglary in Galbally on Tuesday night in the home of an elderly lady.

The three men, one of whom was masked, entered the home of an elderly lady in Ballinamona, Galbally between 9pm and 10pm.

She was present at the time but was unharmed after what gardai described as ‘an ordeal’.

It is understood that the gang instructed the woman to stay still and seated while they went through the house and stole a sum of money.

The woman was alone at the time and gardai told The Avondhu that they do not believe the burglary has any links to other crimes in the area.

A text alert was issued to people in surrounding communities on Wednesday morning as a warning to be vigilant and on the look out for suspicious activity.

They are appealing to the public for information and anyone who saw anything suspicious between 8pm and 10.30pm is asked to contact Bruff Garda Station on 061-382940.
