Oisin’s sporting career going downhill – fast!

Covid year 2020 will go down as unforgettable for young Limerick sportsman, 17-year-old, Oisin O’Callaghan, from Fanningstown, Ardpatrick.

In October, he made Irish sporting history by winning gold at the Mountain Bike Downhill World Championships in Austria – a phenomenal achievement by any standard.

A sport that fits into the ‘high octane’ category, it requires huge fitness levels, complete focus and nerves of steel.

“There is a rush, definitely, but more than that, you have to commit to it completely, winning in Salzburg was incredible for me, it was a breakthrough moment …,” Oisin said at last Sunday’s socially distanced drive by victory celebrations in Ardpatrick.
