Concerns have been voiced by residents living close to the Blackwater Shopping Centre in Fermoy following an application by Perks Funfair to construct an amusement arcade on the site.

The company, who have a well-established entertainment centre in Youghal, have applied to Cork County Council to change the use at Unit 1 in the shopping centre from retail shop to amusement arcade.

A number of objections have been issued to Cork County Council already, with more expected, including from residents living within the nearby Beechfield Estate.

Objectors have cited concerns over noise levels, lack of dedicated parking spaces within the centre, its proximity to local primary schools, as well as concerns the arcade would draw ‘undesirables’ into the area.
