New support group formed in Fermoy

A support group for parents of children with special educational needs has formed at The Hub in Fermoy, providing a vital resource for local parents who are experiencing a gap in support services.

Providing parents with critical information and support, those attending the group are also learning from the experiences of other local parents, something which is proving invaluable. Speaking with The Avondhu, founder Marie Barry-Murphy, explained that the group is for all parents in need, for whatever reason.

“Any parent who is in need is welcome here, or any parent that is struggling. Everybody is welcome. There’s a multitude of different reasons, but coming here to speak and just to realise you’re not on your own, sometimes that’s enough,” she said.
