The first phase of the ongoing N72 pavement strengthening works has been completed at Ballygriffin and also between Lacknamona and Carrig, with work now underway on the Templenoe section between Fermoy and Ballyhooly.

The project is expected to finish in early August.

Once this work is completed and the N72 is fully reopened, similar road works will commence along a section of the N73 at Ballygown.

However, a two-kilometre section near the Nano Nagle Centre at Kilcanway will have to be granted further funding before similar pavement strengthening work can take place there.

Cllr Frank O’Flynn this week expressed his frustration that this section of road was not completed at the same time as the other work along the N72.
