Having goosebumps on your arms, stifling giggles at the funny quips and being in awe of the depth of talent on show from Mitchelstown's young people - these are just some of the feelings that the audience who went to see 'Come to the Cabaret' had on the opening night.
This is the third time that the CBS Secondary School and Presentation Secondary School in Mitchelstown have collaborated for a musical, and the production was simply amazing.
For some of the young stars, it was the first time that they took to the stage, while others had broken their teeth in the first two shows 'Back to the 80's' and 'Greased Lightnin', but for all of them, the performances were flawless, the musical numbers immaculate, choreography spot on and they exuded confidence and inspiring stage presence.
To celebrate the third year of the school's collaboration, the show masterfully brings in elements from the two previous shows, while also giving a sneak peek (we hope) into the shows that are yet to come in the years ahead.
Some of the most memorable performances come from young Scott Fitzgerald, who performs a wonderful rendition of 'The Glory of Love', Ms Mary Lowry who bravely and hilariously opens the show with her own musical number and the Riverdance performance, which audience members said was simply 'breathtaking'.
Songs that people will most certainly recognise include 'Let It Go', 'Man in the Mirror', and 'Mamma Mia' to name but a few. While the musical numbers are all done very well, they wouldn't be possible without the flawless musical accompaniment from the musicians and the choreography and script worked wonders to blend the whole show together.
The CBS welcomed close to 400 pupils and teachers from primary schools in the surrounding areas to the matinee performances during the week and following on from the opening night on Tuesday last, there was another show on Wednesday and the curtain will come down on Friday night for the final show.
The show would not be possible without choreographer Tracey Roche, director Winnie Fitzgerald and musical director Edel McEniry who have all worked tirelessly to make sure that everything went off without a hitch.
Tickets have been selling really well, with more than 350 tickets sold for each night. The show will conclude on Friday night, January 23 at 8pm in the CBS Hall and there will be a limited number of tickets available on the door for the nigh. However, people are advised to go early to avoid disappointment. For more information, contact the Presentation Secondary School on 025-24394.
