16 staff members from Mellerick’s Pharmacy in Fermoy will attend the Retail Excellence Ireland Awards in the Radisson Blu Hotel in Galway this Saturday, the store having been nominated as one of the Top 30 Stores across Ireland.

Mellerick’s Pharmacy on Patrick Street is one of just three stores from Munster to be nominated for the top award in 2016.

After many years trading out of 18 Patrick Street, Mellerick’s moved to the former Co-op premises along the same street in November 2014, turning the centrally located store into a modern space while also incorporating the beautiful ornate ceiling that had been originally installed back in the 1890s.

Store owner Orla Mellerick said the awards are ‘very prestigious’ and the nomination is ‘great for staff morale’. She added: “Thanks to all our loyal customers from over the years plus all the new customers that this beautiful new shop has brought through its doors.”

The annual awards celebrate the best in Irish retail across stores, people (managers and team members), e-commerce and social media. The Retail Excellence Ireland Awards in association with Barclaycard is the benchmark by which the best in Irish retail are judged and is the largest awards programme of its type, boasting over 600 total entries annually.

The awards programme is the largest event of the retail calendar and recognises the professionalism and innovation of companies, stores, websites and individuals in the industry.
