A whopping €32,679.66 was handed over to CUH Charity recently in aid of the Neonatal Sanctum appeal, raised by local man CJ McCarthy and his family.

In April, CJ, who is originally from Fermoy and now lives in Castlelyons, took on the Schneider Electric Marathon de Paris in April in an effort to raise funds to dedicated rooms at the hospital for the parents of stillborn and premature babies.

“It was unbelievable to raise this kind of money for such a worthy cause. I always said I would do something for them after the care our daughter Lauren was given but never in my wildest dreams did I ever think we would raise over €32,000 for the Neonatal Sanctum. I really can’t thank people enough for the generosity they showed in donating and helping raise this kind of money. I will be forever grateful,” CJ told The Avondhu.
