
The performing arts in north Cork got a massive boost this week when a grant of €100,000 was awarded to Saint George’s Arts and Heritage Centre in Mitchelstown.
Among other developments, the grant will fund cinema facilities for the arts centre, which was established less than six years ago.
“We’ve been on cloud nine since the announcement,” said the centre’s chairman, Bill Power. “It’s going to commence a whole new phase of development at Saint George’s that will allow us to expand our activities into cinema screenings, conferences, lectures and other community activities that will support the ongoing viability of the centre”.
