Looking back on 4 decades of ladies football in Glanworth

Members and supporters of Glanworth Ladies Football Club had a lot to get through last Sunday as they hosted elaborate celebrations to mark their 40th anniversary.

A lot happens over 40 years and organisers did an excellent job chronicling the events that saw the club go from a fledgling organisation to being one of the most successful clubs in the county. Needless to say, the women, men and children who support the club will argue that this club is still ‘simply the best’ and who could argue with them. 

FOUNDING ROLES RECOGNISED

The late Mary Mahon was a key figure in the club’s development. Active, progressive and never someone to settle for second best, she set incredibly high standards. A woman, who could turn her hand to any job that needed doing, she is fondly remembered as an inspirational figure within the organisation. The 10th anniversary of her passing co-incided this month with the event.
