
Local Postmasters have supported the call for increased State funding to secure the network and ensure that closures do not occur.
Speaking with The Avondhu this week, Postmasters working in rural towns and villages in The Avondhu circulation area outlined the importance of the local Post Office and the enhanced services offered to communities by the service.
This comes as the Irish Postmasters Union (IPU) is calling for a 50% increase in state funding to €15 million per year over five years to secure the network.
