Local band prepared to make muppets of themselves

Puppet version of local band ‘Cassidy Club’ starring in the video of their new single ‘Friendzone’ which is released today, Thursday, September 14.

A band of local musicians, with members from Fermoy, Watergrasshill and Kilworth, are set to release their first single with a very unusual video.

The band, ‘Cassidy Club’ was first formed by Rob Carlile, Jack Hickey and Eamonn Mulholland, who met while attending St Colman’s College in Fermoy.

The accompanying video, available on YouTube features felt puppet versions of the band members.

“Making a video is as much fun as playing the songs and we’re very proud of our totally unique video,” says songwriter Rob.

“We just couldn’t pass up on the opportunity to play with puppets of ourselves. Now if someone calls us muppets we really can’t dispute it.”

The band are celebrating their video and single release with a gig in The Spailpín Fánach in Cork city on Thursday, September 21.

All are welcome to attend, €5 at the door gets you admission and a lucky bag containing the single and some quirky bonus items.

The single itself, ‘Friendzone’ will be available to buy or stream online from Thursday, September 14.
