Local athletes Lisbon bound for European Transplant games

Local athletes are among eight Cork people set to represent Ireland at the upcoming European Transplant Sports Championships.

Hugh Nolan from Doneraile, Rob Merrigan a Limerick man now living in Watergrasshill, Mike Kiely from Mitchelstown and Mallow men, Mick O’Shea and Pat O’Sullivan, will be taking part in this year’s games at Lisbon, Portugal from Sunday, 21st July – 28th July. This sporting event will be an invaluable opportunity to showcase the benefits of Organ Donation and it is a true celebration of the Gift of Life, with a total of 27 Irish athletes to compete, led by team manager Harry Ward from Baldoyle, along with a number of supporters.

Mairead O’Mahony (Berrings), Mike Keohane (Rosscarbery), Amanda O’Neill Coyne (Youghal) and Patrick O’Driscoll (Ahiohill) will also be competing.
