Limerick Macra Clubs shoot for glory

Ballylanders Macra continue to prepare for their Irish night on Friday, March 15th, while several other clubs have events arranged for the coming weeks.

Croom’s debating team of Anna Holland, Steven Fitzgerald, Peter Cagney and Amy O’Regan took part in the regional round of debating last Saturday evening in Macroom, county Cork. Caggigaline were the competition on the night. The motion was ‘ Smoking should be banned in Ireland’. Croom were proposing the motion. Croom agued their point excellently. Unfortunately Croom were unsuccessful on the night. Good luck to Carrigaline in the next round.

The county round of the basketball took place in Newcastlewest last Sunday night, 3rd March in Newcastlewest. There was a men’s and a women’s competition on the night. Well done to all the Teams that took part on the night. Croom Macra won the men’s competition, while Boher Macra won the women’s competition. They will now take part in the national round in UL on March 24th.

Newcastlewest Macra are holding a quiz night with a difference in Dan Cronin’s Bar and Bistro in Newcastlewest this coming Friday. The night kicks off at 9pm sharp. A great night is a guarantee. All support welcome.

Upcoming Events

Ballylanders Macra are holding their Irish night in Gallahue’s Hall on Friday night, 15th March. The night starts at 8.30pm. Entertainment on the night is provided by the Band Pacific Blue. There will be light refreshments on the night. All are welcome so bring a friend and start your Patrick’s Day weekend in style!

The Limerick Macra Easter Ball takes place in the Castletroy Park Hotel on Sunday 31st March at 7pm. Tickets for Limerick’s annual Easter Ball are now on sale. There will be a champagne reception followed by a 4 course meal on the night. Tickets cost €35p/p. People interested can contact Yvonne Daly on 087 6841816.
