Pupils, parents and staff were met with touching scenes last week at Brooklodge National School in Glanmire as one of the school’s youngest pupils was reunited with her father.
Fleeing their home city of Kyiv, Sofiia Badrak joined the junior infants class at the school at the end of April and according to the principal, Joe Nolan, the young girl had not seen her father since.
Since moving to Glanmire, Sofiia and her mother Yuliia have been living locally in a complex with some 21 other adults and children.
On Thursday, as the junior infants were leaving the school of 351 pupils, the school witnessed the joyous moment when Sofiia rushed into the arms of her father.
