Having rounded off 2015 with the overall powerlifting title in the Masters’ section of the Irish Drug Free Powerlifting Association, Fermoy’s John Rice has begun 2016 as he means to go on – setting a new world record at the All-Ireland Open finals held in Wexford recently.
The 67-year-old competed in the equipped deadlift competition, lifting an incredible 205kgs. This latest success also puts Mr Rice to the top of the Masters’ section of the 2016 IDFPA Lifter Rankings with 175 points.
