Unsuccessful Fine Gael candidate in the recent general election in Cork East, Cllr Noel McCarthy has said he won’t play the blame game following his failure to get elected and that he is looking forward to contesting future elections with the Fine Gael party.

“Trying to blame anyone else for my defeat, that was never my style.”

The Fermoy-based politician joined Fine Gael in November, six weeks after resigning from the Labour party. While party leader Enda Kenny and his senior staff have come in for criticism from party members for their handling of the election, Cllr McCarthy said he isn’t pointing the finger at any member of Fine Gael.
