When Bartlemy teenager Jack O'Mahoney decided to raise funds for his former primary school, he set about persuading none other than singer/songwriter/recording artist Girish Paul, who cut his album 'A Hundred Miles to Go' at the world famous Abbey Road Studios, to perform a tribute to The Beatles to mark the 50th anniversary of the Fab Four's only visit to Ireland.

The recent gig, at Ó Coilean's in Rathcormac, raised over €800 for Bishop O'Brien school in Bartlemy.

Jack, who is currently studying for his forthcoming Junior Certificate Examinations at Coláiste an Chraoibhín in Fermoy, explained why he took on such a considerable undertaking: "I loved my time at Bishop O'Brien's and when I left three years ago I wanted to someday help them in some way for all the help the wonderful staff there gave me. The PTA of the school, the teaching staff and Mr David Feehan worked very hard to support the event and I am thrilled to have made a difference to the school."
