The popular Inches walkway in Fermoy will reopen to the public within the next few weeks – eight months after it was due to reopen last year.

The OPW have confirmed that finishing works, which include grass reseeding, have only recently completed due to weather difficulties.

A motion by Cllr Noel McCarthy was brought to Fermoy Municipal Authority last September, with the understanding that the walkway – which is past the mill in the town and along the River Blackwater – would reopen to the public in October.

It has been closed since the commencement of the flood relief works in Fermoy.
