Every minute counts and timing is everything when ceramic artist Siobhain Steele is crafting a piece of ordinary clay into an extraordinary and striking work of art.

Looking at the blocks of clay in her workshop outside her home in Kildinan, Rathcormac, it is hard to imagine how she transforms the cold, hard lumps into warm and inviting pieces.

Speaking to The Avondhu about working as a ceramic artist, Siobhain was happy to report that her business is growing, but that has taken a lot of hard work, innovation and dedication.

Siobain started out working from a small workshop space, but as boxes, tags and products began to take over her home, she decided it was time to branch out and she modified an existing building, which she now uses as an office space, packaging area and gallery.
