Imokilly 2-12 – Duhallow 1-10
The scoring prowess of inter county man Paudie O’Sullivan was the catalyst for Imokilly’s progression to the next round of the colleges – Division section of the county senior hurling championship, given their five point triumph over Duhallow at Fermoy.
A goal courtesy of Jake Hegarty allied to a series of white flags from O’Sullivan, Murphy and O’Regan gave the East Cork selection a 1-6 to 0-3 advantage after 20 minutes play. Interval scoreline 1-06 to 104.
Duhallow maintained the ascendancy of the resumption, with Michael Vaughan 0-2 and Kieran Sheehan dissecting the posts taking a slender lead inside the last quarter. However, Imokilly regained the impetus through a sequence of white flags from Paudie O’Sullivan and William Leahy (0-2 each) prior to O’Sullivan finding the net in added time, thus enabling the winners to advance with five points to spare.
