The current resplendent presentation of Fermoy town which immediately comes to notice to anyone passing through the town, has this week been welcomed by chairperson of Fermoy Enterprise Board, Michael Hanley.

Thanking both volunteers on the ground and those in the local authority for their Trojan work in keeping the town looking its best, Mr Hanley said the town with its magnificent floral displays in full bloom, raises Fermoy to 'an excellent status'.

"The excellent work being carried out by volunteers and the local authority, has to be welcomed and applauded,” he said.

A man who has worked tirelessly for the town, and continues to do so, Mr Hanley said to bring people to Fermoy to invest, like with any town, is a tough job, but is a task that has to be done. In that respect, he said, the ongoing drive in maintaining the presentation of the town to a high level is of great benefit,' both from the viewpoint of attracting tourism and industry'.

In praising the work of the volunteers and council staff, he also said the Office of Public Works have to be given credit for the quality of the finish regarding the flood scheme works, something that has added immensely to the overall ambience of the town, particularly the areas of Ashe Quay and O'Neill Crowley Quay.
