Thirty years ago, Glenbrohane held its first gala weekend and since then it has been the highlight of the social calendar every year, with this year's programme setting the bar very high.

It takes place from Saturday, October 5 until Sunday, October 6, with a host of events taking place including great music, games and sports activities.

The Voice of Ireland Keith Hanley will also take to the stage for a special performance on Sunday for the gala day, while the Limerick hurlers will also be there with the two Munster cups on the day.

On Saturday, Harvest Night in the Glen will start with open air music performances from Mossie's Country Roadshow and a DJ, from 9pm.

Then Sunday's gala day will bring family fun and sports together from 2pm-6pm at the national school with a fancy dress parade from the hall starting the day's fun, led by the Liam Lynch Pipe band.

Other attractions and fun activity on Sunday include a creepy crawley reptile zoo, a country market with delicious treats and local produce on offer, a bouncy castle, matches throughout the day, wheelbarrow racing, a lady and gent of the day prize, a raffle and also a doll and teddy bear competition.

Three decades on, the gala weekend is a big hit in the community and it has been going from strength to strength since it first started - this year's line up is one not to be missed.
