Mae McKenna and Aileen Kent, students of Presentation Mitchelstown, were recently acknowledged by the German Embassy for their outstanding results in the Junior Certificate 2016 Examination.
The girls were invited to attend for an interview at the Embassy with a chance of winning a place on the International Award Programme 2017, PAD (Pädagogischer Austauschdienst) organised by the German government.
Five students from Ireland were chosen for this programme and we are very proud to announce that Mae Mc Kenna was one of the five who won the scholarship and Aileen was placed on the reserve panel.
Mae will join the other four students from Ireland and together with other international students, they will travel to German for four weeks where they will be placed in a host family, attend school (with a separate teaching programme designed for them) and visit cities such as Cologne, Bonn, Berlin, Munich and Hamburg.
They will also visit youth and sports events, museums, other cultural institutions, sights, theatres, universities etc., to get an overview of German life.
We wish Mae a wonderful adventure in Germany and congratulate the girls for their achievements and continued enjoyment and success in the German language.
