A late entry by a ‘blow in’ representing the smallest club in the parish who they said couldn’t sing and couldn’t dance ended up winning last Saturday’s Stars In Their Eyes song contest.
For the other competitors, it was a case of ‘we fought the law and the law won’ as a Robbie Williams tribute band led by Fermoy based traffic corp Garda, Peter O’Loughlin, helped themselves to the €1,000 first prize in a Stars In Their Eyes style song contest.
A classic smash and grab operation, one must give credit where it’s due. With a number of high profile clubs dropping out of the competition, the lads, who were representing Araglin Racquetball Club seized their chance and took a shot at glory.
Brilliantly energetic and obviously benefitting from professional training, the lads were the public’s choice in a competition adjudicated on by members of the audience.
