
Funding of over €4.5 million announced for Fermoy Community Hospital will be used to progress upcoming works in both the Dochas and Cuisle wards, a spokesperson for HSE South West said.
Announced recently under the HSE’s 2026 Capital Plan, the sum of €4,547,340 was allocated despite refurbishment design of the hospital’s Cuisle Ward being confirmed as being ‘under review’. The review has come about, The Avondhu understands, following completion of works to some rooms which were subsequently deemed ‘too small’ to comply with HIQA standards.
Cllr Deirdre O’Brien said that the situation at Fermoy Community Hospital, regarding the continuous delays and the ongoing ‘review’ of the refurbishment, is a ‘disgrace’.
