This September, Hilary Reynolds will be starting back at the Fermoy Community Youth Centre, where she has been a resident vocal coach and piano teacher since 2005.
Hilary is delighted to announce that, after the highly successful preliminary course of singing classes for boys and girls she held in the Spring of this year, she will be extending her activities, by popular demand, to two courses for children, one for the ages 8 to 10 and the other for the ages 10 to 12, which will be entitled Fermoy’s Songshop for Kids.
Hilary, who has no less than forty-eight years of experience in music, having started singing and playing piano and flute at the age of thirteen, made her debut as a soprano soloist singing Händel’s ‘Messiah’ at eighteen and went on to study singing and piano at the Royal Academy of Music in London.
After graduating, she moved to the Netherlands, where she regularly appeared as a professional soloist with all the leading choirs and orchestras of the country and carried on to build an international career on the concert platforms of Europe.
In 2002, the Head of the Music Department of University College Cork invited Hilary to take up a post teaching Art-Song, Opera and Vocal Studies, and, since moving to Ireland, she has given many concerts, appeared in theatre shows that she has written, produced and directed herself and formed two choirs: the former Munster Youth Choir and Fermoy’s very own community choir, The Orpheus Choir.
