The butchers, the baker and the coffee maker getting a feel for Kent Street where 'Taste of Fermoy' will take place on the evening of Aug 24. L-R: Barry (Fitzgerald’s Butchers, James (Spillane’s Butchers) Sarah (Chamberlain’s Cakes) Brock (Badger & Dodo Coffee).

On Friday, August 24, Kent Street in Fermoy town centre will be transformed into an outdoor evening dining space.

The ingredients for the meal, the music to entertain and the drinks to accompany great conversation, are all being locally sourced.

Taste of Fermoy is an initiative by Fermoy Forum to host a social event showcasing produce and suppliers from Fermoy and its surrounding fields, farms and kitchens and will be one of the biggest events of this year’s Fermoy Festival.

With such a diversity of suppliers calling Fermoy their base, this event will be so much more than a meal – it will be a wonderful opportunity to explore the flavours our town and surrounding areas have to offer while catching up with friends and maybe even making some new ones.

Our locally talented staff and suppliers are collaborating to decorate and light the street, set the tables, polish the cutlery and serve up delicious food. The final ingredient will be the many diners that will partake.

Taste of Fermoy tickets (€35) will go on sale from Wednesday, August 8 from ‘Read, Learn & Play’, formerly ‘The Bookshop’ in Pearse Square.

In the next few weeks, through The Avondhu and social media channels, over 20 suppliers who are all collaborating to bring this event to life, will be announced.

Find us on Facebook and Instagram to see who is supplying the pig that will roast on the spit, the vegetables that will make up colourful salads, the desert for those with a sweet tooth and the cheese board for guests who prefer a savoury end to a delicious meal.

Taste of Fermoy will have its own unique cocktail served at 6pm before dinner will be ready to enjoy at 6.30pm.
