Following news last month that furniture company Ikea is currently scouting locations around Cork to develop a new store, having held meetings with senior officials in Cork County Council, both Fermoy and Mitchelstown are being touted as realistic options for the retail giant’s Munster store.
In a statement recently, the Swedish retail giant said the opening of their second Irish store, an order and collection point in Carrickmines in Dublin, ‘is just the first step in our expansion plan in Ireland’.
They added that they are ‘continuing to explore opportunities outside Dublin, including Cork and other locations’.
