Country and Irish music fans turned out in force for last Sunday’s open air concert in Fermoy. Promoted by Fermoy GAA with McCarthy Insurance Group as main sponsors, the event was a great organisational and financial success.

Anyone going down the outdoor entertainment route needs a bit of luck and were it staged 24 hours later, the sound reverberating around Michael Fitzgerald Park would be claps of thunder with some lightening thrown in for good measure.

As things worked out, ‘Fermoy Goes Country’ went ahead in heatwave conditions with deck chairs, gazebos, sun tan lotion and cold beer being the accessories of choice.

While many opted for typical summer gear, diehard fans donned their hoe down shirts, stetson hats and cowboy boots.
