The community of Fermoy was in shock after news broke of an assault and attempted robbery that occurred at a popular facility in the town on Sunday.
St Colman’s College Park in Fermoy was cordoned off for a time this week as gardaí carried out investigations following an assault and attempted robbery.
A woman in her early 50s was assaulted at the scene on Sunday evening at approximately 6.40pm.
A man in his 20s was arrested on Tuesday at approximately 2pm by Gardaí in connection to the assault and was held in custody at Fermoy Garda Station.
The individual was being interviewed by Gardaí as investigations were ongoing.
