Fermoy based Fitzgerald Butchers, are celebrating 60 years in business. Now operated by Barry Fitzgerald, the family run enterprise started off on MacCurtain Street, before moving to a premises on Pearse Square – formerly owned by John Hanlon.

Speaking at a ‘Meat & Mingle’ event held recently, proprietor Barry Fitzgerald, acknowledged all those who had helped build up the business. He also thanked the shop’s many customers for their ongoing loyalty.

“We’ve outstanding customers who are very loyal, our aim is to continue to uphold high standards, while offering new options such as wine, honey and cheese, it’s all about learning and evolving,” he said.

Guest chef for the evening was John Relihan, who together with Fitzgerald Butchers’ staff, prepared and served a range of excellent meal based delights – all washed down by a variety of new and old world wines, including the store’s best selling ‘Villa Des Croix Pinot Noir’.

Pleasant conversation, friendly staff, magnificent food and fine wine, it was an occasion enjoyed by all. In a rapidly changing retail environment, Fitzgerald Butchers are in for the long haul as they look forward to serving the people of Fermoy and beyond for many years to come.
