Celebrations were in order as Fermoy’s newest accessory boutique, Kaala22 had its official launch on Patrick Street in Fermoy recently.

Franc, AKA Peter Kelly, Ireland's leading wedding designer and TV celebrity planner was present as special guest to officially open the premises in the company of a large group of customers and friends.

Co-owned by long-time friends Deirdre Hussain, originally from Ballyhooly and Carol Sheehan, originally from Carraig na bhFear,  the boutique which opened back in June, stocks a wide collection of accessories for the fashion conscious. Those looking for the perfect Christmas gift need look no further than Kaala22.

Speaking previously to The Avondhu, Deirdre explained where the unusual name came from. “The word ‘Kaala’ is from the Urdu language meaning ‘black’, which captures the style, elegance and timeless beauty that the shop represents. We wanted a foreign word, but also something people could pronounce. The number 22 is a lucky number for both of us and fittingly, our first trade fair was in London on February 2, so that’s where the 22 comes from,” she said.
