With just over a week to go until Colour Me Mitchelstown, there is great anticipation building around the town and surrounding areas.

The fun and novel run will raise funds to go towards bringing sick and disabled adults and children to Lourdes later in the year and it is being run by the Carmelite Lourdes Group.

The event takes place on Friday, July 1 and it follows on from the overwhelming success of last year’s event which saw more than 800 people taking part in the 5km run/walk.

Participants are urged to wear white, so as to get the maximum effect from the colour run, as their T-shirts will be a kaleidoscope of colour by the time they finish the event.

This year’s event promises to be bigger and better than before and the committee are hoping that people will come out and support it.

There will also be a fun carnival atmosphere around the town with a food festival in the square afterwards.

Participants can register on the night from 5.30pm between Spar and Bank of Ireland on James Street, but they can also pre-register on this Saturday, June 25 at Spar Mitchelstown between 11am and 2pm and at Mitchelstown Leisure Centre this Saturday between 10am and 1.30pm.

The Carmelite Lourdes Group would like to thank the main sponsors Albany Colours in Mitchelstown, all of the businesses and individuals who have sponsored and supported them so far and also everyone who will be taking part.

The event also would not be possible without the support of the gardai, the fire brigade, Red Cross, the Three Counties Motorcycle Club and Park United, who will all be helping to keep people safe and organised during the event.

All support would be greatly appreciated.
