Ease of access has been secured at Cappoquin Post Office as a wheelchair-accessible ramp has now been installed at the building.

The new ramp, which has replaced steps at the ‘Blackwater House’, is a welcome addition as it was long called for after the Post Office in the town moved to this new location.

Local councillor, John Pratt, who had advocated to see the works carried out, said that he was ‘delighted’ to now see the ramp in place.

“I’m delighted with the quality of the work. The ramp had to be put in place to ensure everyone can access the post office no matter what,” Cllr Pratt said.

The councillor is now calling for a railing to be installed to ensure that those with a disability or mobility issues will have utmost accessibility to the vital local service.

“Hopefully, the much needed railing will be put in place soon. This is being made at the moment,” he added.

Concluding, Cllr Pratt encouraged members of the public to continue to use their local post offices to ensure their viability in towns and villages.
