Castletownroche is a consistently solid performer in the National Tidy Towns competition – it’s also to the fore when it comes to regional inter village litter challenges.

Last Sunday Cthe village host a fundraising duck derby – an event that generated much needed cash for Castletownroche Tidy Towns. It’s always encouraging for organisers when locals turned out in force in the past and this was very much the case last weekend.

A stretch of the Awbeg River was used for the duck derby course. Starters were on hand to get the ducks going and catchers were positioned down stream to retrieve them.

WILD DUCK RELEASE

With the fundraising side of things out of the way, those present were invited to witness the release of wild ducks – promoting wildlife and their habitats is also part of the Tidy Towns remit.
