Burncourt Drama Group present a Triple Bill of One Act Plays on Friday, January 12 and Saturday 13 in Burncourt Community Hall at 8pm.
The programme is as follows: “If I Can’t Take It With Me, I’m Not Going To Go” by Barbara Handrick displays the antic of the Old woman in a bed refusing to die unless she can take all her belongings with her. With her harmless son, an eager widow , grasping neighbours and equally incompetent cleric and doctor, the scene is set for mayhem.
In “In the Blinking of an Eye” by Jeremy Hylton, two women Joyce and Madge picnic and reminisce about their younger years, both are linked by their love for the same man. A poignant piece with some dark humour.
The final piece is farce at its best- “The Affairs of Dilys Willis” by David Walker. Dilys is all consumingly obsessed with cleaning and is determined to buy her 12th vacuum cleaner from misfortunate salesman Mr. Oldmanroyd. Ronald is her long-suffering husband, Shelia is his dizzy sister and her husband Charles who spent the day in the pub.
This is a night to brighten up mid-January. It will be a night of hilarious and farcical comedy and thought-provoking drama.
