Demolition got underway on Wednesday of an old service station canopy on the Cork Road in Fermoy, the first steps in making the area ‘more presentable’ and useable for the nearby motor dealership.
Cork Metal Co were on location on Wednesday morning to secure the site and bring down the structure, which has stood on Cork Road for many years now, having previously formed part of the service station, fuel pumps and car wash.
According to Frank Hogbin, dealer principal at Cavanagh’s of Fermoy, they purchased the site in 2018 and the move comes in a bid to ‘tidy up’ and make the area more presentable.
“It’s a bit of an eyesore and it’s been there a long time so we’re aiming to improve the site and make it more presentable to use for display parking and car parking …” Mr Hogbin said.
