Over the years, repeated appeals have been made to the public asking them not to swim or dive at Knockananig Reservoir, located a short distance outside Fermoy.
Signage located around the scenic location also advises the public that swimming or diving in the area is not permitted.
However, despite these ongoing warnings, dangerous behaviour was again observed at the local reservoir in recent days during the fine weather.
One young man was seen climbing the gates at the pier, which contain a spiked railhead, and diving into the reservoir.
