Planning permission for a crematorium in Tallow has been granted by Waterford City and County Council, subject to 13 conditions.
The new facility was sought at Aidan Walsh and Sons Funeral Directors, located off Michael J Prendergast Road in the west Waterford town.
In July of this year, planning was submitted, seeking to extend the existing funeral home to provide a crematorium and showroom on the northern side of the building. A chapel and ancillary accommodation were also sought, to be located on the southern side of the building.
