The official switching on of the Christmas lights in Fermoy took place on Patrick’s Street, before a huge crowd last Sunday evening. Thankfully, the rain held off, allowing everyone to enjoy what was a wonderful spectacle.

MC for the event was Synergy Credit Union’s Martina Cotter. Martina thanked everyone for attending and thanked all those who had worked behind the scenes to make the occasion possible. Synergy Credit Union and Cork County Council were thanked for their support.

In his address, Cllr. Frank O’Flynn – who was deputising for the county mayor – acknowledged the financial support of Synergy Credit Union and Cork County Council, who was represented by Margaret O’Donoghue. Also on stage were members of the Fermoy panto group, who performed a number of songs from their forthcoming show, ‘Dick Whittington & His Cat’. Seasonal tunes were supplied by DJ Harper Feerick. While public representatives in attendance included Cllr. Peter O’Donoghue, Cllr. Nelius Cotter, Cllr. William O’Leary and Deputy Noel McCarthy.
