Council threatens of water cut-offs

Limerick City and County Council have warned this week that water supplies to a number of businesses throughout the city and county will be disconnected in the coming weeks, due to the non-payment of water service charges, ‘some of them dating back a number of years’.

“The businesses that face disconnection in the coming weeks have not paid outstanding bills or adhered to a payment arrangement to clear the liability. Having endeavoured to get engagement from the businesses concerned, Limerick City and County Council must now take this action in order to ensure the continued provision of services throughout Limerick,” a spokesperson for the finance section of Limerick City and County Council said.

“Limerick City and County regrets having to pursue this course of action but will do so if monies due on accounts are not cleared as a priority. Non-payment is unacceptable and cannot be tolerated.

“In the meantime, the Council is encouraging business owners that are in arrears that they should contact the council immediately in order to agree a payment arrangement,” the spokesperson concluded.
