Building rubble from city and towns dumped locally

Incidents of rubble and rubbish dumping are increasing in the Ballyhooly and Glenville areas, with four separate incidents within a week discovered recently. Builders from the city and towns around Cork are dumping hundreds of tonnes of rubble in these areas each year, according to one local resident, Ned Duggan.

He said it was frightening to see the amount of rubble that is being dumped in these areas and called for a more stringent approach by Cork County Council to penalise those responsible.

As well as building waste, household rubbish is frequently dumped in the area and Mr Duggan told The Avondhu that unless Cork County Council take a firmer stance against dumping, the amount and frequency of such incidents will only increase.
