Wood Flooring Ireland are delighted to announce the opening of their brand-new premises – (Unit 4, Jim Power Industrial Estate, Tramore Road, Cork.)

Originally founded by Martin O’Callaghan in 2005, family run business Wood Flooring Ireland has gone from strength to strength despite the pandemic. Putting an emphasis on quality over quantity, the O’Callaghan’s create bespoke, hand-crafted wooden flooring with sustainability at the fore.

“We are delighted to open our new premises on the Tramore Road and can’t wait to welcome clients to our new home, we’re currently open by appointment only but the landscape is constantly shifting as we all know. The last 12 months have been tough, but this is most definitely a silver lining.

“For us, the business has completely changed. In 2019 after some deliberation, we decided to go back to our roots and offer a bespoke wood flooring range produced in Cork. We can offer any of our bespoke colours in Plank, Herringbone, Chevron and Panels in a variety of widths and thicknesses.

“In this industry trends are constantly shifting, but at the minute we’re seeing a real shift towards mixing and matching styles. Some clients may choose a herringbone or a wide plank for an open plan area downstairs and have a narrow plank for bedrooms upstairs with the same colour on both, so visually you are keeping the flow of the home the same.

“Producing in house allows us this flexibility to make your floor bespoke for our clients.” – Naomi O’Callaghan, Wood Flooring Ireland

Covid-19 obviously has been a massive obstacle for many local operations, but this family business has used the past 12 months as a time to re-evaluate focuses and explore new avenues.

“Due to Covid-19 obviously we had to adapt and make some changes. We have upped our online presence and placed a strong emphasis on social media, particularly Instagram. If customers can’t enter your physical showroom, it’s vital to create a digital one. Now we’ve got this strong online presence, coupled with our new showroom and we’re delighted to be expanding the business once again.”

With climate change a topic on the tip of everyone’s tongue, Wood Flooring Ireland are leading the field in terms of sustainability

“All of our Oak comes from Europe as opposed to coming from further afield. It’s sustainably sourced and traceable so we know exactly where it’s coming from. Same goes for our oils and finishes – all of these are done in house and are VOC & Formaldehyde free. We’ve got a huge level of control over the entire process; we know exactly how many grams of oil are applied in each process so we can genuinely ensure durability. We’re constantly creating new styles of colours and finishes available in our bank. We’re proud to say that we produce a unique, hand-crafted product entirely in Cork.”

Not only are the O’Callaghans cutting ribbon on a new Cork location, but also recently celebrated the opening of a brand new Dublin showroom in January, expanding the business even further afield.

O’Callaghans looks forward to welcoming clients new & old to their brand-new premises.
